Equipment Help & Troubleshooting
Step-by-step guides written for owners, managers, and facility staff — no technical training required. Know what to check, when to call, and what to tell your technician.
Gas, Smoke, Sparks, or CO Alarm
Gas smell
Leave immediately. Do not use any switches. Call 911 and your gas company from outside.
Smoke or sparks
Shut off power at the breaker if safe to do so. Evacuate and call 911.
CO alarm sounding
Evacuate immediately. Call 911 from outside.
How to Use These Guides
These guides cover the most common symptoms our customers call about. Each guide walks you through safe, owner-level checks in order from simplest to most informative — and tells you exactly when to stop and call a professional. They are not a substitute for licensed service, and they do not cover electrical testing, refrigerant handling, or gas system work.
If you smell gas, see sparks or smoke, or your carbon monoxide alarm is sounding, do not use these guides. See the emergency safety information below.

How to Find Your Model & Serial Number
Model-label locations vary by manufacturer and equipment. Look for an accessible exterior label, check your owner manual, or use installation and purchase paperwork. Do not remove service panels, move heavy equipment, or climb to locate a label. If you cannot find the number safely, contact us — we can still help.
HVAC outdoor unit (condenser)
Often on the side panel of the cabinet, near the electrical disconnect. Look for a silver or white sticker on the exterior.
Walk-in cooler / freezer
May be on the evaporator housing inside the box or on the condensing unit outside. Both units typically have separate model numbers.
Reach-in refrigerator or freezer
Often inside the cabinet on the top wall, side wall, or door frame. Open the door and look along the interior edges.
Ice machine
May be visible inside the front access door on the left or right wall. Check your owner manual for the exact location for your model.
Commercial oven or range
Often on the door frame or side panel. Check the door frame first — it is typically the most accessible location.
Commercial fryer
Often on the back panel or side of the cabinet near the base. May be a metal plate or durable sticker.
Commercial dishwasher
Often inside the door on the door frame or inner door panel. Open the door fully and look along the edges.
Tip: If you can safely photograph the label before calling, that helps — include the full model number, serial number, and any visible error codes. But if you cannot locate the label safely, call us anyway and we will work with what you have.
Official Manufacturer Resources
Owner manuals contain model-specific filter sizes, cleaning schedules, error code lists, and reset procedures. Always use the manual for your exact model — procedures vary significantly between models even from the same manufacturer.
